DTG printing or Direct to Garment printing, is the modern solution for custom t shirt and hoodie printing. Delivering the same high quality look and feel as traditional screen printing but without the costly setups and colour limitations.
With DTG printing, the ink is applied directly into the fabric, creating a super soft texture and a smooth, matte finish.
When printing on dark or black garments, DTG printing, like screen printing, produces a slightly vintage, "worn-in" effect, as the ink coverage isn't fully opaque. This gives your custom printed t shirts and hoodies that perfectly relaxed, "favourite piece of clothing" vibe straight out of the bag!
If you’re looking for a fast, flexible and affordable way to print t-shirts or hoodies with full colour designs, DTG printing is the way to go.

Pros :
- feels softer & looks more like a traditional screen print
- ideal for short print runs
- ideal for artwork with lots of colours or fine detail
- uses water based inks
- less setup fees compared to screen printing
Cons :
- print will fade with washing over time (just like a screen print)
- can not match specific Pantone colours with total accuracy
- coarse fabrics will produce variations in print output due to fabric texture
- can only be used on garments & tote bags, not suitable for caps / beanies
- can only be used on fabric that is 100% cotton
Best for :
- singlets, t shirts, jumpers and hoodies
- tote bags
- must be 100% cotton fabric
- smooth fabrics like cotton jersey work best (not pique knit)
- short runs
Not suitable : for caps or headwear.
Please keep in mind DTG is a multi-step print process involving several machines. It is likely when you receive your product that they may have a "bruise" around the print area & in some instances the print may feel "sticky". This is caused by the pre & post treatment process. This is totally normal. After the first wash the bruise will reduce & in most cases disappear. Any residual "stickiness" will disappear after the first wash.
